Why Anxious Villains?
According to the long-told historic tale…. This useful mix of essential oils dates all the way back to the year 1413. At the time of the infamous Bubonic Plague (aka The Black Death) devastated a large portion of France. The Black Death spread like wildfire amongst the citizens, and doctors alike. It seemed impossible to be in the vicinity without contracting it, and at the time, the sickness really did mean ultimate demise.
During this time, however, four thieving villains were captured and charged for stealing from the sick and dying. These villains never contracted the plague, despite the close contact with the Black Death victims.
At this time, the crime these 4 men committed was punishable by burning alive. The judge was so intrigued by how these men had stayed immune to this terrible disease, that he told them if they shared their secret he would spare them of this punishment.
The Villains told the judge their secret: they were perfume & spice merchants who were unemployed due to the closure of the seaports and the devastation of the plague. They had prepared an essential oil recipe that when applied to their hands, ears, temples, feet & a mask over their mouths, kept them safe from infection. The judge stayed true to his word. The men were not burned alive, but instead, they were hanged for their crimes.

We are exposed to chemicals and toxins several times throughout the day. Products like soap, lotion, make-up, and deodorant are loaded with toxic ingredients, some of them known to be carcinogens. Chemicals like parabens and aluminum compounds mimic estrogen and can promote cancer cells to grow.
Did you know there are 3,100 chemicals used in fragrances and NONE of them are required to be listed on a product label? Do you like putting aluminum into your body, and chemicals that change your testosterone, and estrogen and negatively affect your lymphatic system (among many other vital bodily functions)?

Baking Soda is effective at absorbing all types of moisture, including sweat, which makes it useful for keeping your underarms dry. It also effectively kills odor-causing bacteria. For these reasons, many natural deodorant brands continue to use baking soda as their main ingredient.
The first quality that I was attracted to in arrowroot was that it takes a liking to sensitive skin, and sensitive skin takes a liking right back to it. If you’re fair and easily rashed, then you can relate! Arrowroot contains a plethora of vitamins and minerals, such as zinc, iron, potassium, and Vitamin B6. The combination of these things helps to soften your skin by enabling it to absorb moisture. So much so, that in South America they use arrowroot starch as a baby powder because it leaves the skin feeling soft and smooth. Not only does it leave you smoother than a baby's bottom; but arrowroot powder is also a natural sweat-absorbent and helps to eliminate toxins. It has been used to provide relief to skin irritations including rashes, acne, and skin sores.
Shea Butter is a proven moisturizer for your skin. Shea butter has been proven to have extensive anti-inflammatory properties. Redness and swelling on your skin may be calmed by applying shea butter products. The rich tree-nut oils in shea butter can soak into your skin, creating a smooth and soft barrier that seals in moisture. This moisturizing effect can last several hours.
Coconut Oil may be linked to some potential benefits for skin, including reducing inflammation, keeping skin moisturized, and helping heal wounds. From decreasing levels of LDL cholesterol to improving brain function in Alzheimer’s patients, coconut oil is associated with a multitude of health benefits. The medium-chain fatty acids found in coconut oil also possess antimicrobial properties that can help treat acne and protect the skin from harmful bacteria. If you have oily or highly sensitive skin, make sure to start slowly to assess your tolerance, and consult with a dermatologist if you have any concerns.
Bentonite clay is a powerhouse that deeply cleanses your skin, flushes out toxins, and absorbs dirt and oil from your skin. Research shows that bentonite clay helps in soothing the skin, relieving dermatitis, and managing acne. Its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties may help heal your skin.
Almond oil is full of vitamin E, and it’s a great source of magnesium, phosphorus, and copper. The antioxidant-rich oil is known for its free radical fighting abilities. It’s also anti-inflammatory and boosts immunity. Containing omega-3 fatty acids, almond oil might help you maintain healthy cholesterol levels and improve your memory. It may help lower your risk for diseases like cancer and heart disease. Almond oil soaks in quickly and is a powerful moisturizer. It also has powerful antifungal properties. Rub it on your feet to prevent athlete’s foot or to help remove other fungal infections like ringworm. You can use almond oil as a cleanser or gently remove makeup as well.
Beeswax is an effective occlusive, which means that it can create a protective layer on the skin, sealing in moisture. It also has antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and antiviral properties, which can help protect the skin as well.
Clove essential oil has traditionally been used for a variety of purposes, including as an antimicrobial, to help kill bacteria, as a pain reliever, for digestive upset, and to relieve respiratory conditions like cough and asthma. In a study from 2012, researchers found that Clove essential oil had the ability to kill staph bacteria cells, was antifungal, and antibacterial, and could kill yeast in liquid culture and in biofilm. A biofilm is a community of bacteria that lives together, shielded by a protective, slimy film.
Lemon essential oil is used as an ingredient that fights exhaustion, helps with depression, clears your skin, kills harmful viruses and bacteria, and reduces inflammation.
Cinnamon essential oil is rich in anti-fungal, anti-bacterial, and antioxidant properties. Cinnamon essential oil can effectively fight against the microbes contributing to skin problems. Also, it can increase blood flow, and has a high concentration of antioxidants that helps cleanse and tone skin.
Eucalyptus essential oil has anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving properties, coupled with its natural cooling sensation, making eucalyptus oil ideal for soothing a painful sunburn. Antibacterial properties also protect the skin from infection.
Research indicates that Rosemary essential oil helps prevent the breakdown of acetylcholine, a brain chemical important for thinking, concentration, and memory. When 20 young adults were asked math questions in a small room diffused with rosemary oil, their speed and accuracy increased in direct proportion to the duration the oil was diffused. Other research suggests that Rosemary essential oil may improve brain function in older adults with dementia, including those with Alzheimer’s disease. In a two-week study, stroke survivors with shoulder pain who received a rosemary essential oil blend with acupressure for 20 minutes twice daily experienced a 30% reduction in pain. Additionally, a study determined that Rosemary essential oil was slightly more effective for pain than acetaminophen, a common over-the-counter pain medication.
Rosemary essential oil may help reduce anxiety. When nursing students breathed rosemary oil from an inhaler before and during test time, their pulse decreased by about 9% — while no significant change occurred without rosemary oil. Because increased pulse rates reflect short-term stress and anxiety, rosemary essential oil may naturally reduce stress.
Additionally, when 22 young adults sniffed rosemary oil for 5 minutes, their saliva had 23% lower levels of the stress hormone cortisol compared to those who smelled a non-aromatic compound. Increased cortisol levels can suppress your immune system, contribute to insomnia and cause mood swings, among other potential problems. In one study, applying diluted rosemary essential oil to the skin caused 35 healthy people to feel significantly more attentive, alert, energetic, and cheerful after 20 minutes than when using a placebo oil.
To top if all off, this organic deodorant is encased plastic free, in renewable bamboo tubes that are easy to use and come with almost 4 ounces of odor-fighting all-natural goodness!
